Safe & Clean 

The City of Cincinnati Safe and Clean Neighborhood Fund is intended for projects based on crime prevention through environmental design where improved beautification enhances community ownership and reduces violence. This funding is open for organizations prioritizing youth-led initiatives to promote positive physical changes in neighborhoods. Application deadlines are the second Friday in January, May, and September. Guidelines and PowerPoint have been updated April 1st, 2025, please review for more information.

Important Dates to remember:

April 9th- Applications open

April 16th- Virtual Safe and Clean Information Session @ 2 pm, RVSP below

April 18th- SARA Model Training provided by CPD's Lt. Col. Matthew Hammer will be posted on website

May 5th- Last day to reach out to Ty for grant eligibility

May 9th- Application peer review requests are due

May 16th- Applications close at 11:59 p.m. ET

This virtual session was hosted by Keep Cincinnati Beautiful in partnership with the City of Cincinnati, this is purely informational. Topics that were covered: what is Safe and Clean, priority focuses for May 2025, guidelines, examples of funded projects and Q/A.

Priority focuses for May 16, 2025 deadline: Applications open April 9th! 

We are looking for projects that will:

  1. Engage Youth Leaders: Projects should be led by or actively involve young people who are passionate about improving their neighborhoods.  

  2. Promote Physical Changes: Focus on transforming the physical environment, whether it's through litter pick-up, renovations to shared spaces, or creative enhancements to buildings in their area. 

  3. Implement Crime Prevention Principles: Utilize Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) strategies to reduce crime and increase community safety.  

  4. Enhance Community Ownership: Initiatives should aim to beautify public spaces, fostering a sense of pride and ownership among residents.

Application

Application criteria for the City of Cincinnati's Safe and Clean Neighborhood Fund are outlined in the grant guidelines below. Applications will open 30 days before the deadline.

Projects must take place in within Cincinnati's 52 neighborhoods, and the committee generally does not award projects on Cincinnati Park or Recreation Commission property.

All applications must be submitted online via Submittable using the button below. A budget spreadsheet must be attached to the application. A downloadable application is available for your convenience, but you must copy and paste your answers into the online application when submitting.
