Volunteer Opportunities

Keep Cincinnati Beautiful has a number of volunteer needs throughout the year! Some are event-specific and are listed on our Events Calendar. Others are arranged specifically to accommodate large volunteer groups. Click on the options below to learn more! We hope you find something interesting, and we look forward to serving with you!

The Great American Cleanup

The Great American Cleanup is open to volunteers of all ages! Our role is to help each participating community find the volunteers it needs to pick up litter, plant flowers, paint buildings, clean illegal dumpsites, landscape, remove graffiti, and more! For a list of upcoming events click here. Click on the event you’d like to join to sign up!

If you need extra help placing a group of volunteers, please contact our Volunteer Programs Manager, Megan Beck, at 352-4385.

Arts (formerly Future Blooms)

Our Arts Program managers occasionally need volunteer groups to complete large scale painting projects, but opportunities depend on need, weather, group size, and budget. If you’re interested in planning a painting project with us, please contact Katie Davis or Claire Bryson at 352-4381!

In most cases, groups must have a minimum of 10 volunteers and contact us at least 30 days prior to the desired event date. Generally, we require volunteer groups to contribute the cost of paint and other painting supplies, but not always. We’ll discuss that with you when you set up your event. Adults only please.

Schools

A volunteer experience is a great way for students to see that they can be the change in their community. We recommend partnering one of our educational classroom presentations with a volunteer project (such as a campus cleanup) to bring the message full circle. Contact Barb Wriston-Ruddy at (513) 352-4387 to sign up.

Service Learning

Growing Green Habits is our service learning opportunity for 3rd – 12th graders who want to serve as teachers and mentors to both their peers and the younger students at their school. Students are trained how to present our “Recycle This” program and receive all of the teaching materials necessary to present at a school. This is a great way for students to gain leadership and public speaking skills. The time commitment for training is 45 minutes, and it can be an in-classroom or after school activity. Contact us if you have an interested student or group!

We can also customize a service learning opportunity to fit your curriculum. For example, we can help older students partner with a nearby elementary school for a cleanup or planting event. We can also connect students with their local community council or other local organization to partner on a community project. This is a great way for high school (or college) students to complete their community service hours!

Students who are interested in working with young children and have an interest in environmental education should contact Barb Wriston-Ruddy at 352-4387 to sign up.
