Assemblies

Assemblies are a great education tool. Not only are we able to educate hundreds of students about environmental issues in a short period of time, but our assemblies enhance vocabulary, help students develop listening skills, and encourage good behavior. Click the drop down boxes below to learn about the different assemblies we offer.

The Wartville Wizard

In its 14th season, “The Wartville Wizard” is a whimsical play performed by high school students from Walnut Hills under the direction of drama coach Kate Wilford. Based on the book by Don Madden, “The Wartville Wizard” is the story of an old man who casts a spell on all the people that litter in his neighborhood. Whenever people litter, the piece of trash flies off the ground and sticks to them! When the townspeople are covered with trash, they learn a valuable lesson about protecting Mother Nature. They promise the wizard they will not litter anymore, and he breaks the spell! At the end of the play, each student takes a pledge not to litter and is made an honorary litter patrol officer by a Cincinnati Police officer.

Ready, Set, RECYCLE!

Ready, Set, RECYCLE is a 20-minute, information-packed assembly on the basics of recycling. We’ve made it a baseline requirement for classroom programming to familiarize students with our organization and get them excited about recycling. We use giant props to capture the attention of students, K-8th grade. Students even get to take home informational swag — a recycling magnet with pictures of acceptable items, courtesy of the City of Cincinnati!
