Disney - Give A Day. Get A Day.

Disney's Give a Day Get a Day 'VoluntEARS' Get Free Admission!

* UPDATE: Registration for the Disney promotion is now CLOSED. All of those that already registered to volunteer are eligible to receive online Disney vouchers. If you registered for the State Roadway Cleanup you need to go to Cincinnati Museum Center at 8:30am. You will be working until 12:30pm and your contact person is Josman Rodriguez. If you signed up for the Great American Cleanup, the event will take place on April 24th and you have two options to choose from:

1. Volunteer in your own community. Click here to see a list of all the communities participating this year. We update it daily. It includes the name/email of the contacts as well as phone numbers and meeting places. IMPORTANT: You have to make sure that the day of the event you let the community leader know that you are there working. Then, the community leader needs to email me that list since I have 72 hours to confirm your participation. If you decide to do it this way, you also need to email me back to acknowledge where you will be volunteering.

2. Volunteer at the central location in the Mt. Washington community. This is the easiest and recommended alternative. I will be on hand to confirm your participation. We suggest for you to come to this location. Registration will start at 8:30am at Tower Optical (2057 Beechmont Ave). The kickoff will take place at 9:00am followed by the cleanup until noon. We will have a community celebration afterward.

Questions? Email Josman Rodriguez or call him at 352-4383.

DisneyLogoVolunteering with Keep Cincinnati Beautiful just got more fun! This year, you can volunteer for any of our registered events (Great American Cleanup, State Roadway Cleanup, Growing Green Habits, etc) and you will receive one day in the most magical place in the world: Disney!

Registration for the Give A Day - Get A Disney Day program is now open to volunteers! Go to www.disneyparks.com/celebrate, sign up, and search for a Keep Cincinnati Beautiful volunteer events near you. Besides our Education Opportunities and our March 27th Roadway Cleanup, 100 communities will join the Great American Cleanup on April 24th and you can choose to volunteer for any of them. There's never been a better time than now to start a new tradition of volunteering.

We all know how important it is to volunteer and serve your community to help those that need it in this tough world. Now Disney is trying to get the entire country to realize how important it is to volunteer…by giving potential “VoluntEARS” one of the best incentives around! Starting January 1, 2010, citizens can sign up for one day of volunteer service. Once you complete your day of volunteer service and have proof of your efforts, you will get one day’s admission to one park in Disneyland or the Walt Disney World Resort. So not only will you get the reward of a job well done and helping someone in need, you’ll get the reward of getting into Disney for freeDISNEY - awesome, right?

Disney is partnering with the HandsOn Network. This is the largest volunteer group in the nation. The HandsOn Network has 250 Hands In Action Centers that will be helping Disney facilitate this great program. Even Annual Pass holders will be able to benefit from this great program. You will be eligible to receive a Disney FastPass, an Ear Hat figurine with special trading pins or you also have the option of donating your ticket to a non-profit organization.

To further promote this great program, Disney is launching a “Cheers to Volunteers” sweepstakes. Five day trips for four will be given away for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World with Southwest Airlines pitching in for the transportation section of the contest. With President Obama calling on Americans to volunteer and give back to the community as well, it seems all of America is trying to get into the giving spirit. Jay Rasulo, the chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, wants to get as many volunteers invested in serving the community as possible.

“In 2010, we want to recognize and add one more reason for celebration: the contributions people make to their communities every day,” said Jay Rasulo. “We want to inspire one million volunteers – people who will invest time and energy to make their own communities and neighborhoods a better place.”

The Give a Day Get a Day program sounds like a great way to start. Where will you be volunteering?
