#GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world are encouraged to think about the organizations they value and to support them with a donation.
In the spirit of #GivingTuesday, we hope to raise the final $8,000 we need to secure a brand new work truck that will replace our seriously deteriorating and somewhat hazardous 1997 crew cab truck (shared by the entire staff) before winter strikes.
Its current condition would make you shudder…rusted out floorboard, gas pedal sticks, barely operating defrost, inside door panel is falling off, driver side window doesn’t close, ant infestation, heater and air conditioning doesn’t work…and, it just rolled over 150,000 miles.
Like family, this truck has taken us where we needed to go! Over the years, it has delivered hundreds of pounds of mulch to work sites; pulled into all 55 Cincinnati Public School sites to drop off recycling bins; hauled hundreds of supplies and tools to thousands of neighborhood cleanup sites; transported plants, bushes, trees, and daffodil bulbs that has beautified our communities; and brought relief to tens of thousands of volunteers throughout the years.
This faithful vehicle is tired and needs to be retired! For every dollar spent on the continuous maintenance of this vehicle, the less KCB is able to expend on direct programming and recycling efforts.
With a generous $20,000 grant from the Ohio EPA and a $10,000 match, we have already raised 80% of the total cost! We need $8,000 more to finalize the purchase of a new truck with crew cab, lift gate and extended bed with the capacity to haul tools and supplies as well as remove litter and recyclable debris from work sites throughout Greater Cincinnati.
Help get us over the hill this #GivingTuesday?
