KEEP CINCINNATI BEAUTIFUL OUTFITS CHILDREN WITH COSTUMES

Keep Cincinnati Beautiful will Collect Gently Used or New Halloween Costumes as Part of the "Beyond the Recycling Bin" Program on Saturday, September 14

CINCINNATI - Keep Cincinnati Beautiful will take advantage of the monthly "Beyond the Recycling Bin" program on September 14th to collect gently used or new Halloween costumes for children. The "Beyond the Bin" campaign concentrates on collecting mixed paper and different reusable items throughout the year in an attempt to encourage citywide recycling. The items are later donated to people in need.

The costumes will be donated to the FreeStore/Foodbank, a charity providing food, products and services to help people overcome barriers to their basic survival needs, and to further their self-reliance. The donated Halloween costumes will greatly benefit Freestore’s Kid’s Café, a program structured to meet the unique needs of neighborhood children. Kid’s Café offers nutritious meals to hungry children, and other activities including, tutoring, arts and crafts, recreation and storytime. Children also learn to get along with one another, and interact with caring adult volunteers who serve as role models. The donated Halloween costumes will give the kids an opportunity to enjoy themselves trick-or-treating.

The successful year-round "Beyond the Bin" campaign, made possible by the generosity of its volunteers, collects a variety of items for reuse the first weekend of every month. This September, however, the program will be postponed one week due to the Labor Day holiday.

On Saturday, September 14th, from 9:00 a.m. – noon, in addition to the Halloween costumes volunteers will unload mixed paper products such as cardboard, cereal boxes (without the plastic bag liner), beverage cases, junk mail, magazines, office paper and newspaper. The items can be dropped off at two different locations:

Western Hills Plaza College Hill

Behind Kroger, near Schwartze Ave. Kroger

6150 Glenway Avenue 1606 W. North Bend Road
